Matsuba Tatami shares traditional Japanese culture globally in the form of their small goods using long, soft rushes—the material used for tatami. Tatami mats roughly date back to the Nara period in the 8th century. Originally, they were only accessible for nobles and used almost exclusively for sleeping or seating. As time progressed, tatami began to be utilized for flooring as well. Matsuba Tatami now incorporates tatami into daily life, providing a piece of history and culture with you on the go.
